About a year and a half ago, we had laminiate flooring installed in our living room. I absoultely love it. It’s very durable, easy to clean, and to the untrained eye (mine), it looks like a real hardwood floor.
At that time, we left carpet in the bedrooms and formal dining room, because it didn’t really need to be replaced, and we were on a tight budget.
Until this week.
A series of events…mostly Dobie Boy constantly marking his territory in our formal dining room (now a library because we have so many books!), pushed DH over the edge. “We need to get rid of this carpet. It’s beyond cleaning at this point!” he said, and I wholeheartedly agreed. So, we took a look at our finances, and it was doable. DH called the company that we went with previously (they do amazing work, I would recommend them to anyone!), and they had the same laminate in stock. They came out the next day, measured the rooms, and gave us a quote. DH called to schedule the installation, and they were out here and done on Friday!
Aside from the pain in the ass of moving 4 bedrooms and a library of furniture, it was totally worth it. We got rid of a ton of stuff that we don’t need. Though, having all of the furniture out of the rooms just made me realize that we DESPERATELY need to paint!
Next, we still need to put tile in the master bathroom (yes, there is carpet in there, too…WTF?), and DH wants to replace the kitchen countertops and sink. After that, we should be done with the major renovations. And it’s something that needs to be done before we have a little one, and have no more time or money!
