In my last post, I was talking about how I couldn’t make a decision about anything, and I was having mild panic attacks that I’d have to abandon my newborn at the hospital because I could not decide on a car seat. Well, I MADE A DECISION! *cue fireworks and other celebratory sounds*
I dragged DH to Walmart and Target today. (I didn’t think he would be willing to make the trip to BRU. At least at Walmart and Target, if he got bored with me comparing the padding of car seats, he could go wander off elsewhere.)
At Walmart, I found the original Graco Snugride. Tiny car seat, and the padding seemed inadequate. Definitely the most cost effective option, but the least desirable, in my opinion.
On to Target. I looked at the new Graco Snugride 30, and the Chicco Keyfit 30. These are the two that I was having a tough time comparing online. Both have good safety ratings, but the Graco is lighter, cheaper, and cuter (I think). It should also work with the Graco Snugrider, which is the stroller I will be using until I can afford the Baby Jogger…lol.
So…here is the car seat. I asked DH’s opinion about the pattern, and he approved. 🙂
I also decided on a dresser for the nursery. I was unimpressed with the baby furniture at either of the above places. Ideally, I want a solid wood dresser that can be used for many years to come, but that’s not in the budget. My sister, however, has this dresser from Ikea that has made it through several moves, and is in great shape. So, that’s my top choice. (Say what you will about Ikea, but they have some decent stuff!) I don’t think we’ll have room for that large of a piece in the nursery, so we’ll probably end up going with this one instead. The color is up in the air, either the brown-black or the white depending on the crib we choose. Yeah, the Baby’s Dream crib that I’ve had my eye on FOREVER is now out of the running…price and the fact that it’s out of stock until the summer…meh. I’m not completely opposed to this Ikea crib (it has good reviews from Baby Bargains and Consumer Reports, and is NOT part of the recent recall), but it’s only available in white and birch.
Two down…400 billion to go…*sigh*
