20 months!

{Please note that I am actually posting this ON his 20 month-day!  Not two weeks late, like I usually do!  I think I deserve a high-five!}

Happy 20 months, little man! That 2 in 20 reminds me that soon, you will be two years old. And we won’t be saying your age in months anymore. It’s a little bittersweet, because I miss you being so small, but you’re so FUN at this age (well, most of time)!

This month’s highlights:

  • You will now (usually) lay down on your own for a diaper change.  (Does this mean potty-training is on the horizon? I. AM. NOT. READY!)
  • You are fascinated by things that fly, like birds and airplanes.
  • You have graduated to a booster seat at the table, rather than a highchair.
  • You ask “Where’s Daddy/Mommy/Poppy?” when someone is not in your line of sight.
  • You recognize when something is “wrong”.  (Last night, during bath time I lined up the rubber duckies on the edge of the tub, with one turned around backwards. You looked at it quizically, then turned it around like the others.)  🙂

Such a smart little guy!  I love you lots and lots!

20 month milestones (from Baby Center):

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

  • Feeds doll – I’ve never seen him do this, but he doesn’t actually have a doll…just various stuffed animals.
  • Takes off own clothes – Shoes, socks, and shirts – yes, pants – no, thankfully!
  • Dumps an object in imitation, such as throwing garbage away – Been there, done that. He loves to throw away “tash”.

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)

  • Learns words at a rate of ten or more a day – It seems like he’s saying new stuff all the time, so…sure!
  • Can walk up stairs (but probably not down) – Yep

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

  • May start exploring genitals – He’s a boy…enough said!  lol
  • Draws a straight line – Almost
  • Names several body parts – Been there, done that.  (nose, mouth, eyes, ears)
