I see this question posted all the time in various Facebook mommy groups:
“How did you know you were done having babies?”
The comments vary from practical (health issues, finances, etc) to hilarious (“Just keep having them until the idea of another literally makes you cry?” hahaha)
For my husband and I. it wasn’t anything like that. We just knew that when I had our second child, we were done. Our family was complete.
I was even more confident in that decision when getting rid of baby stuff didn’t upset me. Goodbye, infant car seat! Goodbye, giant bouncy chair thing that took up half my living room! Goodbye, bottles and sippy cups that constantly fall out of the damn cabinet and take up the entire dishwasher! Goodbye, DIAPERS!
I will admit…occasionally, I do wonder what it would be like to have a third child. You know, when the kids are behaving and life is running smoothly, I think “I could do this again”. The same way I watch homeschool curriculum videos on YouTube and think “I could totally homeschool my upcoming second grader!”
And then, all hell breaks loose, and I come back to reality…
We. Are. So. Done.
(And no, I’m not sad about not having a girl.)
