Happy December! Today, we are continuing with part two of my 2019 gift guide, which follows the “rule” our family has adopted for Christmas gift giving: one gift they want, one gift they need, one gift to wear, and one gift to read. In our family, gifts they “need” are educational or experience based gifts. For infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, this is usually learning toys. For school-aged kids, it is activities based on their particular interests.
This year, I have a son that is about to turn four, and a son that is eight. My almost 4 year old enjoys puzzles and is learning his letters, so his gift will probably be an alphabet toy or game. My 8 year old loves science, and is showing an interest in cooking. So, I’m trying to decide between some sort of science kit, or cooking utensils and a cookbook.
Other ideas for gifts they need could be a journal, art supplies, sports equipment, or a new bike or scooter. (Don’t forget the helmet!)
