Beautiful – Live Skin Care System Review

I’ve always had problem skin. “Combination” skin – I think the experts call it. My forehead, nose, and chin are oily, while my cheeks are dry. It’s been hard to find a cleanser that can balance the two. I’d heard of the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), but I was wary of trying it. Adding more oil to my face just didn’t sound like a good idea…  Then, Trusted Health Products introduced a new skin care line, and they offered to send me a 2-bottle set of Beautiful A.M. Moisturizer and P.M. Revitalizer to try and review.  So, I figured I’d give it a go.  I could always go back to other products if I decided it wasn’t for me, right?

They even personalized it for me! :)

They even personalized it for me!

Confession: I wish I had tried this sooner!  It’s awesome!

Beautiful – Skin Care for Women is made of 100% pure and natural botanical oils of almond, orange, lemon, avocado, olive, evening primrose and apricot, with NO preservatives, parabens, GMOs, synthetic chemicals or additives of any kind! This “All-in-One” Skincare solution can replace your other skincare products – makeup remover, moisturizer, cleanser, toner, repair cream, blemish controller, age-defying serum, and more!

I’ve been using the Beautful regimen for 30 days now, and I’m so impressed with how my skin looks!  I even documented a bit of my product testing on my Facebook page.

Here are just a few of the benefits that I’ve noticed:

  • Cleanses pores of dirt and bacteria naturally
  • Pores appear to shrink, giving a smoother look to skin’s complexion
  • Blemishes appear to just fade away
  • Intensely moisturizes your skin more naturally than any cream or lotion — No more dry patches on my cheeks!
  • Helps skin look alive and healthy — I’ve definitely noticed a decrease in redness and irritation!
  • Skin feels clean and conditioned

Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls Review {Sponsor Spotlight}

I’ve been curious about wool dryer balls for a while now, but I just hadn’t gotten around to trying them out. So, when Woolzies contacted me about sending me a set for free to review, I was all Heck yeah, I finally get to see what all the fuss is about!! 🙂

But, let’s back up. What ARE wool dryer balls? In a nutshell, they are a natural alternative to fabric softener sheets with a lot of perks! Think about the chemicals that are in traditional dryer sheets (like the ones that give them that “fresh linen scent”). They’re probably not good to have on the clothes that you and your children wear all day. And even if the “greener” brands are less “chemically”, they’re way expensive! Wool dryer balls do the same job (softening/de-wrinkling/unstatic-ing) your clothes in LESS time for LESS money!

In summary – Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls:

  • are made with 100% pure wool.
  • help eliminate wrinkles and static.
  • can reduce drying time by 25%.
  • are guaranteed to last for over 1,000 loads.

I waited impatiently for the washer to finish. I hung up the AI2 covers to air dry, and threw the inserts in the dryer with 4 dryer balls. (I didn’t think it was necessary to use all 6 with such a small load, but I guess you could if you wanted!) You should not use regular fabric softener sheets when drying cloth diapers, because the oils and chemicals on the sheet will cause build-up on your diapers and affect absorbency. Wool dryer balls don’t have these oils/chemicals, so they are cloth diaper approved!

Usually, it takes two cycles on high to get these inserts dry, because they’re made to be super absorbent. (Obviously…they ARE diapers!) But, after just one cycle on high heat with the wool dryer balls, the inserts were completely dry! They aren’t kidding when they say these will reduce drying time. (Obviously, it will take longer with a larger load, but I’m still super impressed!) Those old dryer sheets are going in the trash, and I’ll use Woolzies on all of my laundry from now on!

Interested in trying some for yourself? Be sure to check out the giveaway starting Tuesday, October 29th for a chance to win your own set of Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls!

Live Clean (baby) Foaming Wash Review

Live Clean is a Canadian company with a simple mission…live simple. live beautiful. live clean. They just introduced a new baby tearless foaming wash to their product line, and offered me a full-size product to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinions with you.

Live Clean Baby Logo_hires

Live Clean offers a variety of products for adults, kids, and babies. Everything they sell meets the following criteria, which I love:

  • Made with up to 98% Plant Ingredients
  • Petroleum Free
  • SLS/Sulfate Free/DEA Free
  • Paraben/Phthalate/Phosphate Free
  • Pure Vegan / Cruelty Free
  • Biodegradable Ingredients / Recyclable Package / Local Sourcing

I really love this foaming wash for myself and my son! The pump is easy to use (even one handed), and the foam has a pleasant scent that’s not overpowering. I asked my husband what he thought it smelled like, and he just said “clean”. lol

Little man is a huge fan of bubbles. (That’s pretty much the only way I can get him in the tub nowadays!) And this foaming wash did not disappoint…bubbles EVERYWHERE! He loved it!

You can purchase live clean (baby) exclusively at Walgreens stores in the U.S. (or click here to find more retailers in your area).

Super Simple DIY Air Freshener Spray

I’ve had this recipe pinned forever. When we ran out of our previous chemical-filled spray this weekend, I decided there was no reason to buy more, since I had all of the ingredients for this one in my kitchen! My home smells so lemony fresh – even my husband commented on the clean scent!

The recipe gives you some ideas for oils to use, but I found this Cleaning Synergy Blend that I just love. It contains Lavender, Lemongrass, Rosemary, and Tea Tree – but I notice the lemongrass more than anything else.

I also put a few drops of this essential oil in the toilet paper rolls in the bathrooms to keep things fresher!

If you’re interested in learning more about essential oils and their uses, download this FREE book: Essential Oils: 60 Oils That You Need and How to Use Them Now! (This is the Kindle version, but if you have an Android phone, there is a free Kindle app in the Google Play store.)

Rainforest Alliance’s Follow the Frog Week – September 16-22 #followthefrog

Back when I was younger, I remember a lot of people talking about saving the rainforest. I don’t feel like you hear much about that anymore, though. Now the “going green” focus is on air quality, organics, etc.

So, when I got an email from Rainforest Alliance about their Follow the Frog Week, I was glad to see that people are still making an effort to preserve that environment! They even sent me a box of goodies in exchange for sharing this information with you!

This box from Rainforest Alliance includes products (like chocolate, coffee, tea, and energy bars) that have a green frog seal on the packaging. That symbol means these items are produced under strict social and environmental standards to help protect wildlife, and improve conditions for workers.

Even though you don’t hear about it – we’re losing forests at a rate of 32 million acres per year. That’s about one football field every 78 seconds! 🙁

So, how can you help curb this rapid deforestation?

  1. Join in the fun this week (September 16-22)! See what Follow the Frog events are happening in your area!
  2. When shopping, look for that Rainforest Alliance seal!
  3. Learn why your choices matter! Check out this video at!
  4. Like Rainforest Alliance on Facebook and follow @RnfrstAlliance on Twitter for the latest environmental news and tips on living a more sustainable life!

Back to School with TreeSmart Recycled School Supplies

I’m always on the lookout for ways I can live greener. So, when TreeSmart contacted me about reviewing some products in their line of recycled school and office supplies, I took them up on their offer! They sent me one of their All Star Recycle Sets (which includes 12 Newspaper Pencils, a Recycled Ruler, and Color Pencil Set) in exchange for a review.

I was very impressed with the quality of our TreeSmart pencils! They sharpen easily, write cleanly, and erase nicely. I also love how you can still see a bit of the newsprint on the pencil itself! The little 6″ ruler was great, too. It’s the perfect size for a school pencil pouch. 🙂

My favorite product, however, was the colored pencil set! They come pre-sharpened in a cute little cardboard tube. Little man LOVED to color with these, and sort them, and name all of the colors he knows.

For those of you in education – TreeSmart offers a wonderful school recycling and fundraising program! You can send in clean newspapers, and in exchange, you receive pencils with your organization’s text and logo on them!

TreeSmart is based in the US, and has been making recycled school and office supply products since 1998. Learn more about the company here, and be sure to follow them on social media – Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

What Gardening Can Teach Kids

The following article is a guest post from a fellow blogger.  No compensation was received.

We live in a fast world, don’t we? Just venturing into a Walmart on a Friday at 5 p.m. is enough to stress
me out. Everything is so immediate anymore: fast food, instant credit, breaking news.

I’m lucky to be raising my son in a town of less than 1,000 people where the pace is a bit slower, but we aren’t immune to twitter feeds and smart phones out here. That alone isn’t enough. I want to teach him that there are things in life worth waiting for. One of those is our recent foray into pen pals.

Another is planting a garden. This is our 2nd year and we’ve had both success and failure. I find, at least for me, gardening has a huge learning curve and I try and involve my son in this process as much as possible.Gardening offers a ton of benefits in many different life areas. It is an awesome educational tool. Here’s a list of its lessons and below that are the ways children can be involved.
