Eat More Veggies with Tommy’s Superfoods {Review}

** I was compensated for the following review, but all opinions are 100% my own.

This past week, my family and I have had the opportunity to try several different varieties of frozen vegetables from Tommy’s Superfoods.

The products are all-natural, non-GMO, gluten free, low-sodium, and many are vegan. All of them come in microwaveable steamer bags (which is how we heated them), but they can be done on a stovetop, as well. In all of our samples, the vegetables looked fresh (not wilted), and had a good flavor.

Root Fusion (Carrots, Beets, Apples, and Sweet Potatoes) – My one year old and I love sweet potatoes, so we really enjoyed this! Normally, I would expect a pairing of apples, beets, and sweet potatoes to be sweet…but this had a sage seasoning that was deliciously unexpected. I served it with leftover turkey breast, and it gave the meal a bit of a Thanksgiving vibe!

Super Greens (Spinach, Collard Greens, Kale, and Lemon Juice) – No one else in my family likes kale, so I was on my own here. I didn’t really notice a lot of seasoning on this one compared to the others, but it’s hard to mask the earthy taste of kale! I mixed it with a pasta dish though, and it was fabulous!

Vegetable Medley (Broccoli, Peas, and Carrots) – My 5 year old preferred this one. His only objection…”Too many green peas!” Hahaha This was an easy one to serve as a dinner side, because it’s all veggies that we eat pretty frequently.

Cauliflower and Green Beans – This was my husband’s favorite. He loved the cauliflower, and though he’s not usually a fan of cooked green beans, he said these were nice and crunchy.

Asparagus with Uncured Bacon (Asparagus, Carrots, Bacon, and Red Bell Pepper) – The asparagus was cooked well…not soggy like asparagus can get. I thought there would be a really obvious bacon flavor, but I didn’t really notice it at all. Still delicious, though. (The one year old kept sneaking some off my plate!)

The only sample we didn’t try was the brussels sprouts, because we’re just not big fans of them. But, I’m sure we would have been just as impressed with the taste and quality.

Tommy’s Superfoods frozen vegetables have definitely increased our veggie intake, and given us new options for meal times! Visit their website to see all of their products, check out new recipes, and find out where to buy Tommy’s Superfoods near you.

Yummy Snacks from Funley’s Delicious {Review}

** I was compensated for the following review, but all opinions are 100% my own.

Over the last week, my family and I had the opportunity to review several snacks from Funley’s Delicious. Funley’s Delicious products are 100% Natural, GMO Free, and have NO Preservatives, Trans Fats, or High Fructose Corn Syrup. Their products come in resealable bags, which make them easy to grab and take on the go.

Funley’s Super Crackers each have a hidden superfood in them (to get some extra nutrients in those picky eaters!) We tried three of the flavors: Pizza n’ Stuff (hidden Carrot), Cheddar n’ Stuff (hidden Broccoli), and Cornbread n’ Stuff (hidden Sweet Potato). If you’re a fan of a particular brand of crackers that are shaped like a fish, you will really love the pizza and cheddar flavors! They are nearly identical in taste to the other brand, but Finley’s has a much shorter and healthier ingredient list. My 3.5 year old had no idea there were veggies hiding in these crackers until he saw a carrot on one of the bags, and even after that, he didn’t really care. We weren’t huge fans of the cornbread flavor, though. It was too bland, in my opinion, and I didn’t notice much of a cornbread taste until I ate several of them. The Pizza flavor was a winner for the whole family. They also offer Ranch n’ Stuff (hidden Spinach), which I would definitely try!

Thumbs up for Funley's Pizza Crackers!

Thumbs up for Funley’s Pizza Crackers!

In addition to the crackers, we tried all three flavors of Wholly Granolly Clusters. DH liked the Peanut Butter Pretzel, but I didn’t notice much of a peanut butter taste myself. DS’s favorite was the Wild Apple Berry. I only got to taste a couple of them before he ate the rest of the bag, but I really liked the combination of crunchy granola and a bit of chewy sweetness from the fruit. The Double Chocolate Chip was my favorite, because…chocolate! I may have hidden this bag from everyone else, so I didn’t have to share…lol

Overall, I was very impressed by Funley’s Delicious, and I’m looking forward to trying some of their other products! You can find these, and other Funley’s snacks online, or at your local store! Be sure to check out Funley’s Delicious on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates and coupons!

How I Celebrated National Cereal Day! {Review}

** I was compensated for the following review, but all opinions are 100% my own.

Last Saturday, March 7th, was National Cereal Day. (Yes, that is a real thing!) To celebrate, I tried out a few new (to me) cereal brands! I’m trying to clean up our act as far as what we eat, so having the opportunity to review products that are non-GMO and have fewer ingredients was pretty exciting to me!

Erewhon Corn Flakes – Since 1966, Erewhon has led the organic revolution. Their foods are made of non-GMO ingredients. While I’m not a big fan of corn flakes, I do love that there are only TWO ingredients in this brand – organic milled corn and sea salt! They must have been pretty tasty, because my 3.5 year old ate them both with and without milk.

Peace Cereal Walnut Spice – Peace Cereal only uses premium ingredients that have been verified by The Non-GMO Project. The Walnut Spice cereal was my favorite! My husband liked that it stayed crunchy in milk, and I thought the cinnamon flavor was awesome! We both felt like the walnut pieces could have been bigger, though. They kind of got lost in the bowl with everything else.

Uncle Sam’s Raisin Bran – An American Original since 1908, Uncle Sam’s high fiber and heart-healthy cereals are made from simple and non-GMO ingredients, and have nourished families for over 100 years! Uncle Sam’s Raisin Bran only has four ingredients (Whole wheat kernels, Raisins, Salt, and Barley malt), and I think it’s better than the other brand we all know! It could use a few more raisins (in my opinion), but it’s definitely not lacking in flavor!

I was very impressed by these cereals, and I’m looking forward to trying other Erewhon, Peace Cereal, and Uncle Sam’s products. You can find these, and other Attune Foods brands, at a store near you!

I just tried the Chocolate Chip cookies for the first time, and they are really good! Not overwhelmingly sweet, with just the right amount of dark chocolate chips. I do prefer cookies that are chewy (which these are not), but these are delicious! Even my three year old liked them (and we all know how picky little kids can be about food!) I can’t wait to try the other varieties of Lucy’s Cookies, especially the seasonal options like Pumpkin Patch, Holiday Sugars, and Chocolate Mint. Yum!

If you need some allergy-friendly cookies for a holiday party, or to satisfy your own sweet tooth, give Lucy’s Cookies a try! You can find Lucy’s products at your local retailer, including Target and Whole Foods Market.

My Search for the Perfect Christmas Cards at Minted.com

** I was compensated for the following review, but all opinions are my own.

With Halloween over, I am in HOLIDAY SEASON mode! Time to start making a to-do list…and the first thing I need to do is to find the perfect Christmas cards to send to our friends and family!

I was recently introduced to Minted.com, and I’m super impressed just from browsing their site. I have about 83748238423 favorite photo Christmas cards that I have to narrow down to just one. With so many great designs from their global community of independent artists and designers, it’s going to be difficult to choose!

At first, I thought I had it narrowed down to a holiday postcard. Less paper, and no envelopes to stuff, makes my eco-friendly side happy! I really love simple designs like this, with a photo being the focus of the card.

Minted Collage

I’m also considering this postcard from the “new home” category, since we moved earlier this year.

There is something to be said about the more traditional holiday greeting, though. This card is simple and a bit elegant with the foil-pressed lettering.

minted real foil card

If I decide to go that route, Minted has beautiful envelope designs AND recipient addressing! That is appealing…all I would have to do when I get my order is add postage and put them in the mailbox!

Don’t wait to check out the great selection of Minted photo Christmas cards for yourself, because you’ll definitely need some time to pick the right one!

Happy Holidays!

Botanical Splash – Body Moisturizer and Revitalizer Review

Winter is coming, and for me (and many of you, I’m sure!) that means dry skin. Right on cue, Trusted Health Products sent me a bottle of Botanical Splash, their new Body Moisturizer and Revitalizer. (Full disclosure: I did receive this item for free in exchange for my honest review.) I will admit, I had high expectations for this product! I have reviewed a couple of things previously from Trusted Health Products, and have not been disappointed!

Botanical Splash is a blend of 100% pure botanical oils – almond, orange, lime, lemon, olive and avocado. It works well on all skin types, and has no preservatives, parabens, petroleum-based oils, GMOs, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, colorings, or additives of any kind!

botanical splash review

There are so many things I love about this product! The spray application makes it very easy to use. Just spray, and lightly spread on the skin. No greasy lotion residue all over your hands! The refreshing citrus scent is great to wake up to. I use it in the morning after my shower, and a little extra throughout the day on trouble spots, like my elbows and knees. It definitely has smoothed these rough areas! My skin just soaks it up, and it feels so clean and healthy! Botanical Splash can also be used as an underarm deodorant. I haven’t tried it for that purpose, but I think I will.

Once again, Trusted Health Products has provided a great MULTI-USE product! Using Botanical Splash, not only am I treating my skin with natural oils (as opposed to chemicals), I’ll save money, too! I am a very happy customer!

{SPECIAL OFFER} For a limited time, the manufacturer is willing to offer my readers one FREE bottle. They said they would love to have our readers try out Botanical Splash and agreed to send one bottle FREE if our readers would pay a minimal shipping and handling charge. This is a one-time only offer! Click here to get your FREE bottle now!

Simply Bridal Classic Microfiber Quilted Tote Review

A few weeks ago, I did a giveaway for Simply Bridal Invitations and Gifts.  Today, I am reviewing an item I chose for myself from their website. (Full disclosure, I did receive this item free of charge from Simply Bridal, in exchange for a review and giveaway.)

I don’t know about you, but I love tote bags. They are so versatile!  I have several brands and sizes, but surprisingly, even the smallest one in my collection was too big for a quick trip out with one child. That’s why I’m so glad I found the Simply Bridal Classic Microfiber Quilted Tote. It’s the perfect marriage (pun intended) of size and style, and I don’t look like the crazy bag lady who packs her entire house for a trip to the grocery store with her 3 year old!

simplybridalbag1

I’ve been using the bag almost exclusively for a couple of weeks now, and it’s really working out well. The quilted exterior and polka dot interior are both easy to wipe clean, and I love the extra large interior zippered pocket! Both my wallet and cell phone fit, and there’s extra room, as well. The main compartment has plenty of space for the items I carry on a regular basis.

simplybridalbag-Collage

The only time I wished I had a larger bag is for our weekly trip to the library. It was very heavy with all of our books in it, and without padded straps, it was a bit uncomfortable to carry. I’m also not a huge fan of the outer pockets on either side of the bag. I was unable to fit my usual Klean Kanteen water bottle in them, but I did squeeze my Brita water bottle in with some effort. I think it would be fine for a plastic water or soda bottle, though.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Simply Bridal Classic Microfiber Quilted Tote. I can see myself using this bag for many years to come.

Sweet Sweet Sleep with Mommy’s Bliss! {Review}

Now that we’ve moved into our new home, we are no longer co-sleeping. My son has his own room, with a big boy bed, and that’s where he sleeps. It’s been quite a transition for him, and most nights, he has trouble winding down. That’s why I was so grateful to Mommy’s Bliss for offering me the opportunity to review their Sweet Slumber Sleep Set. (FYI – some of the links below are affiliate links. Click and support PGM! Thanks!)

mommysblissmain

The products in Sweet Slumber Sleep Set use extracts of lavender, chamomile, and ylang ylang, which are known to aid in relaxation, to help your baby fall asleep and stay asleep. And, all of the Sweet Slumber products are free of parabens and harsh chemicals, so you can feel good about using them on your little one’s sensitive skin.

Our bedtime routine starts with a bath and Sweet Slumber Baby Wash. This is a 3 in 1 body wash, shampoo, and bubble bath, but we mostly use it as a bubble bath because there are SO MANY BUBBLES! My 2.5 year old just loves it! The subtle scent is not overwhelming like a lot of other lavender-scented kids products, and it doesn’t seem to irritate my son’s eyes (though I don’t see that it specifies “tear-free” anywhere.)

20140626_203714-1

After bath time, I put his pajamas on (it’s summer, so just a t-shirt and wool shorts over a diaper), and give his legs and feet a quick massage with Sweet Slumber Massage Cream. I didn’t use a lot of lotion on him as an infant, so this step has taken some getting used to on his part, but now he wants to put it on himself! I don’t notice the lavender scent so much with this product. I think it smells a bit like sunscreen personally, but it’s definitely not a bad smell. It’s very easy to apply – nice and silky, not at all greasy, which is awesome!

While Daddy gets his teeth brushed and they pick out a story, I spray a bit of Sweet Slumber Mist on his pillows and blanket. This is my favorite product of the three…I even use it on my own bed! It’s a very fine mist, and doesn’t seem to leave any residue on his bedding. The smell doesn’t stick around that long, though, so I recommend spraying it on right before bedtime.

Sweet Dreams!

I am very pleased with the Sweet Slumber Sleep Set. It has made bedtime at our house calmer, and my son seems to sleep more soundly! If you’re looking for tips on a good night’s sleep, Mommy’s Bliss has created a slideshare called Ten Steps to Help Your Baby Sleep Better. It’s obviously targeted toward infants, but some of the tips can apply to toddlers, as well.

You can find these and other great Mommy’s Bliss products at your local pharmacy, or online at Amazon.com.
