Botanical Splash – Body Moisturizer and Revitalizer Review

Winter is coming, and for me (and many of you, I’m sure!) that means dry skin. Right on cue, Trusted Health Products sent me a bottle of Botanical Splash, their new Body Moisturizer and Revitalizer. (Full disclosure: I did receive this item for free in exchange for my honest review.) I will admit, I had high expectations for this product! I have reviewed a couple of things previously from Trusted Health Products, and have not been disappointed!

Botanical Splash is a blend of 100% pure botanical oils – almond, orange, lime, lemon, olive and avocado. It works well on all skin types, and has no preservatives, parabens, petroleum-based oils, GMOs, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, colorings, or additives of any kind!

There are so many things I love about this product! The spray application makes it very easy to use. Just spray, and lightly spread on the skin. No greasy lotion residue all over your hands! The refreshing citrus scent is great to wake up to. I use it in the morning after my shower, and a little extra throughout the day on trouble spots, like my elbows and knees. It definitely has smoothed these rough areas! My skin just soaks it up, and it feels so clean and healthy! Botanical Splash can also be used as an underarm deodorant. I haven’t tried it for that purpose, but I think I will.

Once again, Trusted Health Products has provided a great MULTI-USE product! Using Botanical Splash, not only am I treating my skin with natural oils (as opposed to chemicals), I’ll save money, too! I am a very happy customer!

{SPECIAL OFFER} For a limited time, the manufacturer is willing to offer my readers one FREE bottle. They said they would love to have our readers try out Botanical Splash and agreed to send one bottle FREE if our readers would pay a minimal shipping and handling charge. Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara {Review}

(Disclaimer: I purchased this product myself. I am not being paid to do a review on this product.)

I’ve been putting off this review for a while, because I kept hoping that I would start to like this product…but that was not the case.

I was on the hunt for a new mascara, and I decided it was time to purchase a more “natural” alternative without spending a ton of money. So, I headed to my local CVS and I found Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Mascara. Now, I have heard mixed reviews on the Physicians Formula Organic Wear line, mostly questioning the “EcoCert Certified Organic” Certification. But it is the best organic alternative that you can find in a drugstore, so I gave it a shot.

What I love about this product:
– The packaging. I think the brush handle is cute!
– It doesn’t smudge. Though I didn’t see anything about this mascara being waterproof, I didn’t have any issues with it getting all over my face. I didn’t wear it standing in the rain, or cry a lot while wearing it, so maybe it doesn’t hold up in those situations. For regular everyday wear though, it works well.

What I don’t like about this product:
– It clumps horribly. Even after I wiped the brush with a tissue to remove any excess, I still had tarantula eyes when I put this on! I had to run through my lashes again with a clean mascara brush to try and even them out.

I got so frustrated with the clumping issue, I went back to my old Cover Girl mascara until I figure out another option.

Organix Hydrating Tea Tree Mint Shampoo and Conditioner {Review}

While at the store the other day, I was in desperate need of a new shampoo. I have oily hair and dandruff, and my itchy scalp was driving me crazy. I try to avoid regular dandruff shampoos, but after doing some research, I found that Tea Tree oil shampoos are an effective dandruff treatment.

As much as I would like a 100% natural shampoo, I wasn’t expecting to find that at my local Walmart. The main ingredients I want to avoid are SLS and Parabens. This product claims to be Sulfate and Paraben free, but the ingredients list still looked kind of suspicious (Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate?) It also claims to have “Organic Active Ingredients”. Hmmm…

But like I said, I was desperate, and as much as I love my Aubrey Organics Camomile Luxurious Volumizing Shampoo, it’s not meant to treat an itchy scalp (but it does bring out the natural highlights in my hair!) I could not find a Tea Tree shampoo at Aubrey Organics, but they have the Green Tea Shampoo. I wonder if that would be similar. I could not find any definitive information comparing the two.

So, I’ve been using this product for about a week now, and I must say, my itchy scalp is gone. I don’t think there is much Tea Tree oil in this product, but whatever amount there is worked amazingly. It doesn’t smell at all like Tea Tree. It actually has a very strong peppermint smell, which I love, but some people might find it overwhelming. I didn’t think it was particulary hydrating, but it certainly didn’t dry out my hair. I could go a day in between washings, and my hair still looked fairly clean.

All in all, I don’t think this was a bad purchase. It’s definitely not 100% natural, but the ingredients I’m most concerned about have supposedly been eliminated, it works great for me, and the price can’t be beat. I will continue to use this until I find a better alternative.

Edit (11/22/09 @ 10:50 PM): According to several websites, including this one: “Green tea also has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, and may benefit people with itchy scalps and dandruff.” So, I think I’ll try the Aubrey Organics Green Tea shampoo when I run out of the Organix. (I don’t want to be wasteful!)
