Son #1 is 6 Years Old!

Son #1 –

The days are long, but the years are short. So very true. You turned six a few weeks ago, and I feel like you’ve grown up so much in the last year. You love Minecraft. You can do simple addition in your head. (You obviously got your excellent math skills from your dad!) You’re looking forward to Kindergarten (which finally started today – thanks Hurricane Harvey!) to do science and asked, “Are we going to make potions?!” I doubt it, but I hope you’re just as excited about whatever you actually do! I hope this is a great year for you, and you make lots of new friends. (I don’t foresee that being a problem, since you’ve always been outgoing and have never met a stranger…also NOT something you got from me!)

I love you so much!

– Mommy

    Five Years Old!

    Little man –

Five years old. I can’t believe it.

Last year’s interest in superheroes was fleeting. We are now knee-deep into the worlds of Pokémon and Minecraft. That’s what the big kids like, after all.

You are a great artist and storyteller. (You obviously get this skill from your father.) You’ve excelled at swim lessons this summer. In May, you didn’t even want to put your face underwater. Now, you love to wear your goggles to practice swimming in the bathtub…lol

You have one more year of Pre-K starting this week. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store!

    Love you lots and lots!

    Happy 4th Birthday!

    Little man –

How are you four years old already?! Time is just flying by! Three was a good year overall, but “threenager” is a very accurate term! lol Things steadily improved as you got closer to four, though.

You’re really into superheroes now (Transformers, Iron Man, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, etc.), but you still like dinosaurs, too. You love to tell stories, and attempt to sing the theme songs to your favorite shows. You prefer to be outside (especially swimming, which you’re much more confident with this year than last). Everyday you ask me if we’re going to school, so I guess that means you’re looking forward to starting Pre-K in a couple of weeks. lol

I can’t wait to see you become a big brother, and teach your little brother everything that you know!

    Love you lots and lots!

    I Have a “Threenager”!

    Little man –

We survived the “terrible twos”! It’s been a tough year with lots of big changes for you, but overall you’ve been an awesome kid! You’ve really gotten the hang of potty training within the last couple of weeks (no accidents, yay!), which is a HUGE milestone! I’m so proud of you!

You are “fast and fearless”, just like your shirt says in the picture below. 100% all boy – you love to get messy and are into EVERYTHING! And people wonder why I only have one child…lol

We’ve decided not to put you in preschool this year, but you and I will be working at home on letters, numbers, etc. so you will be ready for Pre-K next fall. There will be plenty of opportunities for socialization, though! Swim lessons, storytime at the library, and you start gymnastics classes next week. 🙂

I’m a little nervous about this “threenager” stage, but I’m excited to see what the next year has in store for you!

    Love you lots and lots!

    Look who’s TWO!

    Little man –

We celebrated your second birthday this past weekend. (Just a small get-together with family, but you had a blast!) Oh, how are lives have changed of the past couple of years…

I just can’t believe how much you have grown up since your first birthday! You are a SUPER active kid, and you talk ALL. THE. TIME. (I have NO idea where you get that from! lol) You are definitely more social than I imagine your father and I were at this age. It’s really fun to see you interacting with other kids. A few days ago, when I dropped you off at daycare, you went right up to another boy in your class and said “HI!” and waved! It was so cute!

You love being outside, playing with trucks or a ball, and playing “fetch” with the dogs. You are quite artistic, too! Your finger paints of choice are applesauce or yogurt…all over the table…and any other furniture you manage to touch on the way to the sink to get cleaned up.

I’m so excited to see what adventures the next year has in store!

    I love you SO much!

    ~ Mommy

I Had the Best of Intentions

I had every intention of getting two blog posts written this weekend…but that obviously hasn’t happened. One involved cloth diapers, and my tester/model was uncooperative. The other was a DIY that I didn’t have all of the supplies for. (Look for those coming soon, though!)

Instead, we spent the weekend jumping in bounce houses at little man’s cousins joint 2nd and 4th birthday party, and other boring stuff (grocery shopping, blah blah blah).

    bounce house

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!
